This is our second year purchasing coffee from Mr. Pepicano and his family. His passion for improvement and for bringing the this Tabi to life is impressive. Due to the extreme resilience this varietal brings, we have really grown to love and appreciate it more than some of the others that are native to Colombia. This years coffee is full of tropical sugared fruit and is exciting enough for the deep taste enthusiast as well as approachable enough for someone who just appreciates a good balanced and complex coffee from Colombia.

Libardo Pepicano is the third generation of coffee producers in his family. He remembers how these green plants have fascinated him ever since and how eager he was to help his father. During those years, he learned a lot about coffee production. He explains that one of the biggest challenges to producing high-quality coffee is learning to control every step of the process. He hopes his children will carry on the tradition with same passion.

Mr. Libardo sees coffee as part of his life and is grateful for everything it gives him and his family. He always dreamed of owning his land and preserving the region's coffee tradition and inheritance. And his dream was fulfilled. He began with the cultivation of traditional varieties as Caturra and Castillo, but lately, he decided to experiment a bit and bring diversity to his land by introducing Tabi variety. Tabi means in the native Colombian tribe dialect "good". And Libardo agrees with it utterly. Not only are Tabi is resistant to leaf rust but coffee has positive cup qualities with a nice body, moderate acidity and rich and complex flavors. Coffee is the only agro-product that is cultivated here. His lots are well organized by variety and age of the trees. During harvest, he has workers to help him (3 – 10 depends the season).
